Dream on brother. Allow me to tell you how I became a Republican. In I believe 1982, I was at a bus stop in San Francisco and a young man came up to me and asked if I was registered to vote. I said no and he proceeded to tell me how easy it was to register. He even offered to mail my form. That was nice. So I filled out the form and gave it to him to check to see if I had filled it out correctly. He noticed that I checked the box “Republican.” At the time I had no idea what it meant to be a republican.

This young tried to get me to change my choice and I became suspicious and defensive. As a result of my refusing to change my choice, he handed me my registration card and told me to “Mail it yourself.”

34 years later, I now see the Republican party treating people the same way this Democrat treated me.

Now I am not changing my party and I commend you for the great job of describing why I remained a Republican for so long.

However, you are dreaming, if you think THIS Republican party will change or that an open letter will stop ignorant people from voting for “The Donald.” Don’t get me wrong, Donald Trump will not become president. My fear is that his silly antics might cause some Republicans to believe that being a Democrat is any better.
